Do you ever have one of those days when it's just not a day until something has to be fixed! well that was my weekend. Sat was a nice day, can't remember what I did though....lol.... Hate getting old. anyway in the evening I decided to color my hair and I was doing the final rinse and condition at the kitchen sink cause it's higher and I don't have to bend over as far anyway all done, turn the water off, wrap head in towel and look down at floor...yup..puddle, ugh what is this? so I grab paper towels and wipe it up only it's not getting dry. more towels, more wipes still wet! hum...got get a towel and put it under the dishwasher and that should do it. Text Don think we have a leak in the dishwasher, he will look at it at 10. comes home and we don't see how it's leaking, unscrew the machine, pull it out and wham! water everywhere! but where is it coming from, okay turn faucet on so we can see, water just gushing out of the bottom of the pipe that is the main connection to the house. GREAT! clean it up as best we could, put a big note on the faucet not to turn on water and go to bed. Rise and shine, pull it out again and look. hum gonna need some tools so off to wally world with a list, get everything and the fun begins. Here's what it looks like when we cut the hole in the wall to see the pipe.
Come to find out it was pieced together when they built this house some 30 years ago and Don actually found duck tape on part of it! great. Anyway we used putty to seal it up and waited for atleast an hour before we tested it and it seems to be holding. We were truly blessed that we could fix this ourselves and not have to call a plumber out on a Sunday and pay premium rates.

The waterman says that the duck tape is used for flexability. He says its very common to use it in plumbing when there might be the case of the house seattling. He says sometimes the epoxy will crack if the house moves just right because it dries hard and has no give. So maybe that explains the duck tape better!!!
You did a great job!!! Lets cross our fingers that it last.
